One thing is for certain, you don’t come across a beastly off-road USA-made electric scooter like Hollyburn P5 one very often. You won’t see this beauty out on the streets often due to two things: the price tag and the fact that it isn’t made for commuting.
The company that made this bad boy is Works Electric, a small American company in Portland, Oregon. Knowing small companies, their quality control is probably one of the best you’ll ever get on an electric scooter, and their generous warranties back that claim up. It’s rare for an e-scooter to have such a generous warranty, let alone an off-road one, but this shows how much faith its creators have in their machine.
Works Electric Hollyburn P5 – All Terrain Mean Machine
Hollyburn P5 Features
Pure Sine Wave DC Control system produces a pure sine output, which means the engine runs super-smooth and quiet. The Regenerative Interlock Braking is very strong and you can very well just use it for most of your braking. When the regenerative brake won’t cut it, the dual-piston hydraulic breaking system with a huge 180mm rotor and metal ceramic brake pads will surely stop on demand. These breaking systems may seem like a bit of an overkill, but when going at speeds of over 35 mph, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
This behemoth of a machine is foldable due to the new Z-Stack 4 Folding Front End, and it allows you to easily store your scooter. The Crusher Five-Point Armor will protect the rover; there are stainless steel brush guards, and an underbody rock plating, aluminum motor shield and motor debris guard.
There are many accessories you can choose for Hollyburn P5, including an ergonomic seat attachment, fain fenders, brake pads, different tires and the Fast Charger. While these accessories are costly, they’re very high quality and a great addition to the scooter.
Design & Build
Hollyburn P5 looks like it’s ready to go to war; the bulky industrial appearance is a must for an off-road scooter, and the design is robust, simple and blocky. It looks heavy, and it is heavy. The engine and battery are encased in high-quality aircraft-grade aluminum with steel reinforcements on the key stress points. Every major component is armored from below (you’ll know why this is important if you’ve ever damaged your car going off-road), it’s all cold, hard steel and aluminum.
And it is waterproof! Most electric scooters and bikes aren’t waterproof, but water-resistant, meaning that multiple days in the rain will quickly make them rust or get damaged. The P5 is fully weather protected to IP66 standards, meaning you can ride it in all weather conditions, including rain and snow.
Power & Range
The massive 5200 watt ZM3-R brushless motor will easily achieve 0-30mph in under 5 seconds; please be cautious because P5 has only 1 gear, meaning that if you yank the throttle, be ready to be propelled forward with full power. While it’s powerful, it’s also very silent. The EK High Tensile chain drive is extremely durable, all serious off-road riders will appreciate it.
This scooter has an advertised max range of 28 miles, but with a max speed of 37 mph, and you having a bit of fun, you’ll often have to recharge after 14 miles. This will not be a problem with an optional fast charger that will fully recharge the battery in 2.5 hours.

WE LIKED:
- Amazing build quality
- Extremely durable
- This scooter is completely waterproof, not just water resistant
- Very powerful
- Unmatched brakes
- Great warranty
WE DIDN’T LIKE:
- No built-in speedometer
- No turn signals or brake signals, meaning you should be very cautious in traffic or avoid roads
Who is this scooter for?
Hollyburn Rover P5 is for people that are in love with off-roading and are ready to pay the hefty price tag. It’s worth it, considering all that this scooter brings to the table. You’re not going to find this kind of quality anywhere else, and this machine is almost indestructible for all intents and purposes.
It’s not recommended to use this to commute due to the fact that off-road tires are very noisy on roads. Works Electric has thought about this and if you use the commuting tires your ride on regular roads will be smooth and silent; the scooter is still very heavy, so please be careful in traffic. And always wear the suitable helmet, a motorcycle helmet in this case.
